iOS 4.0 install backup prob.

Hi everybody. So today at about 1:30 PM iOS 4.0 became avalible to everyone from iTunes update today. So I went and downloaded the update and then when it was backing up it took forever then froze like 1/12th of the way through. So I went online franticly searcing for a way to get this update and then I found out that I need to download the firmware from ios.e-lite.org and now I am going to restore my iPod with that then sync it, and then I will have it! ( Hopefully). So I hope this helps you I'd you are having this problem follow these steps and tell me if it helps!
